Every individual is prone to undergo mild depression at least once in their entire life time. Depression is something we cannot avoid, but there are some ways we can do in order to go through with this condition. Usually includes symptoms such as hopelessness, sadness and lack of motivation, you can survive mild depression without the use of any drugs. The first thing you should do in order to get rid of yourself from depression is to keep your mind and body busy. Plan a busy schedule ahead of you every day, do physical exercise, go jogging with your family or friends or hit the gym and work out. Depression can get worse if you just stay at home and do nothing. When you plan certain daily activities for the entire day, you do not only help yourself treat depression, but you also give yourself a healthy and fit body. Reach for the goal of at least 30 minutes of physical activity 5 times a week or so. According to research, physical exercise initiates the production of a chemical called serotonin. This chemical is produced by the brain, and usually considered as the happy and good chemical in the body because it generates the feeling of happiness and contentment in us.

Another effective way on how to treat depression is by spending time under the sun. there are depression also known as seasonal depression and this usually occurs during winter when exposure to sunlight is minimized. Spending hours at work or at school can give you mild depression, because you not only are becoming stress from work or studies, but you also lack exposure to sunlight. If possible, change your lights with that can stimulate the sunlight during cold season. These lamps are available on most hardware stores and it is also brighter than any ordinary light.

Expressing how you feel with your family or friends can help on how to treat depression. When you feel lonely, it is always helpful to have someone to talk to where you can vent out your build up emotions. It may be difficult for the first time, but it becomes easier once you get used to it.

Research has also shown that mild depression can also be linked with insufficient vitamin intake. Change your diet plan and increase your intake of fruits and vegetables because they are rich in vitamin C, B1, B6 and B12.  These vitamins are effective in reducing mild depression. If possible, you can also take vitamin supplements with these components as to increase your body’s nutrition.

Lastly, avoid stress and relapses. Avoid going back to your old routine once you get a hang of your new lifestyle. Do not let any temptation ruin your focus in achieving a happier and a more contented life.
