Gender Body Language
Wondering How To Make Your Body Language Rock? Read This!
Everyone knows that men and women communicate differently. Women are more likely to talk about their feelings and men are not. This is only one difference, though, what about the differences in gender body language?
Everyone uses body language to help get their point across more effectively but men and women just do things a little differently and it is a good idea to know what those differences in gender body language are when dealing with both genders.
Women are traditionally better at picking up the nuances of body language than men are because men are more basic and mostly use verbal communication to get their point across.
Men are naturally more aggressive and tend to use verbal communication as a means to intimidate their counterparts or control the conversation to show dominance. Non-verbal signs that men try to use to show their superiorities are aggressive stances and lots of gestures. Gesturing commands their listener’s attention which is what they want and needs to effectively get their message across. Men are solution oriented and tend to want to fix things.
Women, on the other hand, are more forthcoming in relating to others and tend to offer more personal information in order to form a personal connection to others. Body language women use is more relaxed and laid back. Of course, if you want to know what a woman is feeling, all you have to do is look at her face.
Facial expressions can tell you a lot about what is going on behind the scenes. Men do not smile as much as women do and so it may be harder to “read” them because of this. Facial expressions can tell you when someone is angry, sad scared, tired, happy, or even disinterested. It is all in the eyes. If she is quiet and looking away she may disagree with what you are saying or she may not care about the topic being discussed and be bored.
Women do tend to hold eye contact better than men unless that man is trying to intimidate another person then they hold eye contact almost as a dare to the other person to not look away. Looking away will be considered as a sign of weakness to the aggressor and even as an invitation to move in for the kill, so to speak.
When it comes to distance, men tend to keep a further distance between themselves and whomever they are speaking to. When women communicate they tend to get up close and personal. Not that they are keeping secrets or anything they just like the close proximity, it creates a more personal relationship between the speaker and listener.

Women will look for signs during the conversation that they may be able to make this person a friend. If they pick up on “friendly signals” they may pursue a friendship with that person and invite them out for coffee or lunch.
The differences in gender body language can be subtle or they can be over depending on the situation. Sometimes it takes a well-trained eye to detect the subtle meanings being conveyed.
